Two historical films are in making in Sandalwood

The Kannada Film Industry is all set to welcome two historical films very soon. One of them is titled Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna and the other is Keladi Shivappa Nayaka. The first movie will deal with a freedom fighter from Karnataka and the second one is about a notable ruler of the Keladi Nayaka Kingdom in the 17th century.

Kannada film star
Darshan is playing the lead role of warrior Sangolli Rayanna. The actor turned politician Kumar Bangarappa will essay the role of Shivappa Nayaka in the other film. He has the same, height and complexion like Darshan.

Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna has been launched on the Varamahalakshmi festival day in Belgaum and it will be directed by director Naganna, who has been planning it for the last 5 years. Dr. Jayaprada is playing a vital role in this movie after Priyamani rejected to play it. This historical movie will be produced by Anand Appugol. The dialogues are penned by Keshavaditya and camera is handled by Ramesh Babu. Yashovardhan has composed music for this historic film in Kannada.

Director Babu Rao Athani made a movie on this freedom fighter in 1967, which was produced by Ananth Hiregowdar under Chitravani banner. The other historical movie Keladi Shivappa Nayaka, based on the life story of King Keladi Shivappa Nayaka, will go on floors on November 5 in Shimoga. The film will show the king with three queens but in real life, he was said to have five queens. The movie will be edited by Suresh Urs and other technicians are yet to be decided.

It seems Sandalwood is going to get back to the British rule era with these two films. Hope the audience likes it!

'ಕ್ರಾಂತಿವೀರ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣ'ನಾಗಿ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸಲಿರುವ ಚಾಲೆಂಜಿಂಗ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ದರ್ಶನ್ ಅವರಿಗೆಂದೇ ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಬಿಳಿ ಕುದುರೆಯನ್ನು ತರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕುದುರೆಯ ಬೆಲೆ ರು.17 ಲಕ್ಷ! ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಯುದ್ಧ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕುದುರೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವಹಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಈ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕುದುರೆಯನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಗುಣವಿಶೇಷಗಳೇನು ಎಂಬ ವಿವರಗಳು ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೆ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಲಿವೆ.

ದರ್ಶನ್ ಜೊತೆ ನಿಖಿತಾ ಥಕಿತ ತದಿಮಿ:' ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣ'ನ ಜೊತೆ ಥಕಿತ ತದಿಮಿ ಎಂದು ಕುಣಿಯಲು ಗ್ಲಾಮರ್ ಬೆಡಗಿ ನಿಖಿತಾ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಮಣಿ ನಾಯಕಿಯಾಗಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಆಕೆ ಯಾಕೋ ಏನೋ ರಾಯಣ್ಣನನ್ನು ಒಲ್ಲೆ ಎಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರಿಯಾಮಣಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಾರೆ ಕಳಕೊಂಡ ಅವಕಾಶ ನಿಖಿತಾ ಪಾಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಟ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಮೂರ್ತಿಯವರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹುಡುಕಾಟ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಉಳಿದಂತೆ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಭಿನೇತ್ರಿ ಜಯಪ್ರದಾ ಅವರು ಕಿತ್ತೂರು ರಾಣಿ ಚೆನ್ನ,ಮ್ಮನ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿಂಚಲಿರುವುದು ಈಗಾಗಲೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂಗತಿ.

ಭಾರಿ ಬಜೆಟ್‌ನ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಆನಂದ ಅಪ್ಪುಗೋಳ್ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಕ್ಷನ್, ಕಟ್ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವವರು ನಾಗಣ್ಣ. ನವೆಂಬರ್ 19ಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮುಹೂರ್ತ ನೆರವೇರಲಿದೆ. ಅಂದಹಾಗೆ ದರ್ಶನ್ ಜೊತೆ ನಿಖಿತಾ ನಟಿಸಲಿರುವ ಮೂರನೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಇದಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ 'ಯೋಧ' ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದರು . ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ರಮೇಶ್ ಅವರ ' ಪ್ರಿನ್ಸ್ ' ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲೂ ನಿಖಿತಾ ನಟಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಆಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನನಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶನೇ ಸಿಕ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ದೂರುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಟಾಲಿವುಡ್ , ಕಾಲಿವುಡ್ ಫೇಮ್ ನಟಿ ಮೂಲತಃ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನವಳಾಕೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಮ್‌ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಾಲಿರಿಸಿ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಕಂಡ ಪ್ರಿಯಮಣಿಗೆ ಸಾಲು ಸಾಲು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಆಫರ್ ಬರತೊಡಗಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೊಂಚ ಬದಲಾದಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದೆ ಕಾರಣ .

ಆ ಸಾಲು ಸಾಲು ಆಫರ್‍ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಲೆಂಜಿಂಗ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ದರ್ಶನ್ ಅಭಿನಯದ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣ ಚಿತ್ರವೂ ಒಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು . ದರ್ಶನ್ ಅಭಿನಯದ ಈ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನಟಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಮಣಿ ನಾಯಕಿ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಕೆಲ ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದ ಚಿತ್ರತಂಡದಿಂದಾನೇ ಹೊರಬಂದಿತ್ತು ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿತ್ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶೂಟಿಂಗ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಿದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಸಹ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಇದೀಗ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಮಣಿ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣನಿಂದ ಸರಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಸ್ವತಃ ಚಿತ್ರದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ನಾಗಣ್ಣ ಅವರೇ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಇಂತಹ ಭಾರಿ ಬಜೆಟ್ಟಿನ ಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಯಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾಕೆ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಕಾರಣವಾದರೂ ಏನು ಡೇಟ್ಸ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಎದುರಾಗಿದೆಯೇ ಅಂದರೆ ಅದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಹೀಗೆ ಒಮ್ಮಿಂದೊಮ್ಮೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಒಲ್ಲೆಯೆನ್ನಲು ಕಾರಣ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಭಿನಯಿಸಿ ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟ್ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಧೀತು ಎಂಬ ಯೋಚನೆಯೇನಾದರೂ ಪ್ರಿಯಮಣಿಯ ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಕ್ಕಿದೆಯೇ ಒಂದು ತಿಳಿಯದು ಆದರೂ ಗಾಂಧಿನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವಾಗ ಏನು ಸುದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೆಂಬುದು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅರಿಯದ ವಿಚಾರವೇ ಸರಿ.

Time was when people used to check the number of reels' mentioned in the Censor Certificate of a movie that was shown at the beginning of each show.The bigger the number of reels,the lengthier the film.There were also names for films that were short and of longer durations;chikkata and doddata respectively,names adopted from folk -drama tradition.

Of late,almost all Kannada filmmakers have resigned to the fact that the films must be only chikkatas,with each half being only as had e above a hour each.In the last few years,there were only a handful of films that were more than 135 minutes long.Breaking the trend and going back to the tradition will be Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna,which will be at least 180 minutes long.

Sandalwood was rife with speculation that some in the core team wanted the film to be not more than 150 minutes long while others wanted to retain the first version that came out of the editing table at 210 minutes.Naganna,the director said,This is a period film and even the audience will come prepared in the belief that it will be lengthy.The duration of such a film can be nothing less than 3 hours.A film that is 2 hours 30 minutes is considered very lengthy.People know that a film like KSR will be lengthier.

Naganna has not taken a call yet.We have seen what happened with Jodha Akbar.The film was 3 hours 30 minutes long and it put everything out of order.The screening time,the number of shows and all else were affected.Many shows ended at 1.30 am or 2 am.We cannot do that here.The film will be comparatively longer than other films,but speculation that it is over 200 minutes is wrong.

Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna,based on the life of the 19th century guerilla warrior,was expected to release on Rayannas birthday on August 15.Sources now say that the film will release only by October first week.Earlier,KSR was expected to be ready for a January 26 (which is incidentally the date on which Rayanna was hanged by the British) release.The audio of the film is likely to be released on August 15.

Challenging Star Darshan starrer historical magnum opus Kranti Veera Sangolli Raayanna directed by Naganna is the most awaited film by the Kannada film fans. The post production work of the film is in full swing now and the latest we heard about the release of the film is that the release of the film may be postponed by a week. The film may be released either on October 18 or 19.
The Animal Board permission which was awaited for the film is expected to be received by the producer Ananad Appugol in a day or two. Already the computer graphics work of the film has been completed. Hari Krishna's background music work is completed and the mixing work is to be completed in Bengaluru on Monady or Tuesday.
Already application for the Censor Board for Certification has been submitted and the Board is yet to give the date. The ongoing Cauvery agitation and pending Censor requests for the other Kannada films may mean that the Censor Board members will watch the film on October 10 or a day after. Certainly the film will not see the light of the day on October 12.
On October, Yogish's film "Kalaaya Thasmai Namaha' directed by Chandrasekhar will be released along with one more Kannada film.
