Upendra gets two avatars for Brahma :
Early this week, director R Chandru and Real Star Upendra put to rest all rumours surrounding the actor's possible next project by releasing the first look stills of their film together — Brahma. Interestingly, the pictures depict the actor in two very distinct avatars. While one clearly shows Uppi as a king/warrior of centuries ago, the modern-day look appears to be modeled on most onscreen dons — monochrome kurta and dhoti, rudraksha beads, tikka and sunglasses included. The pictures, however, gave another rumour a new lease of life — that the film is based on the Telugu superhit Magadheera.

And Chandru doesn't deny being inspired by the film, but claims that the similarities end in the treatment of the film. "Brahma is not the remake of Magadheera, but our story also traverses two timelines, with the hero seen as a king and modern-day person. Also, unlike the Telugu film, there is no reincarnation here. In fact, our story and Upendra's market is such that we have decided to make it a Kannada-Telugu bilingual."

But given the similarities between Magadheera and Brahma, would it make sense to take Uppi's film to Tollywood? "A producer friend from Tollywood opined that the subject of my film would work well among audiences there and hence we decided to try the bilingual route. We are very confident of the content that we have, the rest is up to audiences," says Chandru.

Pranitha Subhash has been selected to play the lead role opposite Upendra in Brahma, a movie being directed by R Chandru.

The movie went on the floors on Thursday in Pranitha’s absence, as she is on a vacation.

The actress has made a strong comeback in Sandalwood after migrating to Tollywood. In 2012, she had two hits through Snehitaru and Bheema Teeradalli.

She has completed three projects – Angaraka (opposite Prajwal Devaraj), Whistle (Chiranjeevi Sarja) and Buddu (new comer) – all of which are ready for release. Brahma will be her first movie opposite an A-list actor in 2013.

Pranitha is also acting in two Telugu movies, one opposite Ravi Teja and another opposite Manoj Manchu; both projects are yet to go on the floors. Though Brahma is a hero-centric movie, Pranitha will have adequate screen space to showcase her talent.

Chandru is known for glorifying heroines in his movies and giving proper character treatment. His previous venture, Charminar, featuring Prem and Meghana Gaonkar, became a hit. Though Meghana has been in the industry for some time,

Charminar propelled her into the top league. The actress is now being flooded with movie offers in Kannada. Pranitha can expect similar characterization in Brahma opposite Upendra.

t is 'Mylari Enterprises' from director cum producer R Chandru. He has floated the banner with his 100 days cinema 'Mylari' starring Shivarajakumar and Sada. The film floated in this banner is 'Brahma' for producer Manjunatha Babu (Amrutha Halli).

After launch in Bangalore Palace and son recording muhurth in Gurukiran Studio the film 'Brahma' starring Upendra went straight to Lalith Mahal Palace in Mysore for eight days shooting.

Upendra, Nazar, Sayyaji Shinde and others took part in the thrilling scenes that were handled by thriller Manju. After this schedule director R Chandru is moving to Bangkok portion of shooting.

R Chandru has written the story, screenplay, dialogues and directing the film. Gurukiran is music director, Shekar Chandra is cameraman, KM Prakash is editor, Shivakumar, Ismail art director, Vijay and Thriller Manju in stunts, Pradeep Antony choreography technical team of the director.

The star cast is also interesting. Upendra, Pranitha, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Sayyaji Shinde, Nazar, Rahul Dev, Sonu Soodh, Suhasb Shetty, Dr Girish Karnad, Kaat Raju, Bullet Prakash, John Kokkin, Mangalore Suresh, Lakshman, Sharan, Padmaja Rao, Suchindra Prasad and others form star cast of 'Brahma'.
