Darshan's upcoming release Bul Bul, which was supposed to release this month is now slated to release in May.

The film directed by MD Sridhar has Darshan, Ambareesh and newbie Rachita Ram in lead roles. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Darling, which had Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles.

The film was extensively shot in Bangalore, Goa and Mysore, among other places and was also in the news for Darshan and Amabareesh doing Psy's Gangnam Style moves for a song in the flick. It was reported that the film was all set to release in the month of April.

But now, with the new election code rule, the film will see a delay in the release. According to the election code, any film that has a celebrity who is contesting in the assembly elections should not be screened in theatres. Their films will also be barred from appearing on television. This is done to prevent movies influencing voters. Since Ambareesh in contesting in the upcoming state elections that is all set to take place on may 5, the film will release post the elections. In a recent interview, director MD Sridhar said, "There is a bit of confusion in the date of the release. Though the date is not yet finalized, we will release the film post the elections."

Challenging star Darshan's forthcoming project Bul Bul directed by MD Shridhar starring newbie Rachita Ram along with rebal star Ambareesh in an important role, had its trailer release on You Tube.

Darshan posted on his micro-blogging webpage asking how the trailer of Bul Bul is and posted the link to the video. The trailer got a good response from fans and actors from the industry.


Chiranjeevi Sarja was among the first to congratulate the actor after seeing the trailer. The video has actors Sudeep, Duniya Vijay, Upendra, Ravichandran V,Ramesh Aravind and Jaggesh.

Bul Bul Releasing On May 10th


Darshan has confirmed it. Bul Bul, starring Darshan and the original 'Bul Bul star,' Ambareesh is releasing on May 10. In a tweet late on Wednesday night Darshan said, "Hi good evening to all my dears bul bul movie going to release on 10th may get ready Love u all."

Bul Bul is the first big Kannada release after the Assembly elections in Karnataka. Since Ambareesh is in the film, it could not be released before May 8, when the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place. The voting to the elections is on May 5.

The film is directed by MD Sridhar and has music by V Harikrishna. TV actress Rachita Ram is playing the lead lady. It is the home production of Toogudeepa films. Harikrishna, lyricist Kaviraj and few other technicians are partners in the production.
