Ganesh Venkatraman is best remembered for films like 'Abhiyum Naanum' and 'Unaipol Oruvan' in Tamil, 'Kandahar' in Malayalam and 'Eenadu' and 'Damarukkam' in Telugu. This model turned actor, who has already acted alongside top heroines of the industry like Trisha and Anushka Shetty will now be paired opposite Shriya in a bilingual - Kannada and Tamil film, titled 'Chandra', directed by Roopa Iyer. This will also be Ganesha’s Kannada debut.

"I wanted someone who is tall and handsome as the character is a Prince based in US and Ganesh was suitable for the role. Since this is done both in Tamil and Kannada, I was looking for an actor who was quite popular in Tamil too. I am glad that he agreed to do this film," says Roopa Iyer.

Roopa Iyer’s way of presenting the story was quite convincing, says Ganesh, "I will be playing the role of a prince in the US in this love triangle story. Roopa also plans to take this movie internationally, which seemed quite interesting


Ganesh, who is now based in Chennai had an opportunity to be part of all South Indian films except Kannada. "I can now proudly boast that I have acted in all the southern languages," says the actor, who will be in Bangalore in the month of July to shoot for the film as he awaits for his upcoming releases 'Pani Thuli' in Tamil and 'Damarukkam' with Anushka and Nagarjuna

Ganesh thrilled about Kannada debut

Ganesh Venkatraman has already made a mark in Kollywood. He has now set his eyes on Sandalwood. The actor has been signed on to play the lead opposite Shriya in a Kannada-Tamil bilingual titled " Chandra."

Ganesh who has a lot to look foward to in the movie, is super happy and can't stop gushing The excited actor tweeted, "Thrilled to be working with the 'legendary' Vivek sir in 'Chandra'. Luv his brand of humour. It's gonna b a lot of learning & lots of fun !!"

'Chandra', Ganesh's Sandalwood debut is being made by award-winning filmmaker Roopa Iyer. As far as Ganesh's concerned, he has his calendar full with upcoming releases Pani Thuli (Tamil) in July and Damarukkam (Telugu) with Anushka & Nagarjuna in August. Ganesh who has also agreed to learn Kannada will essay the role of a prince in the film. The film revolves around a reincarnation love theme with two blue blooded lead characters revealing an epic tale. Kannada actor Prem will play the other leading actor's role.

'Chandra' was to earlier star Ramya aka Divya Spandana as the female lead. However, it is being said that Ramya's refusal to act with Prem (who doesn't have an impressive career record) made Shriya grab the role

Meanwhile there is change in the producer. Rippon Malhotra of Rippsons India was earlier disclosed as producer. In his place Prasad of Sammarth Ventures has come in. Prasad is producing the film in Narasimha Art Production. Roopa Iyer is the CEO of this new production banner.

Tamil comedian Vivek in Chandra


Tamil comedian Vivek, who is already working in his maiden Sandalwood film Maaricha, has signed a second Kannada film titled Chandra, directed by Roopa Iyer. The movie stars Shriya Saran, Ganesh Venkatraman and Prem in lead roles. Sources state that Vivek will start shooting for the movie from July 14, and he will shoot for 20 days for the film. Sources also state that the comedian will essay the role of Shriya’s brother in the movie. Chandra revolves around the theory as to why most royal family members prefer to get married to foreigners rather than finding a suitable partner in our own Indian sub-continent
