Short Notes on the Ganga Dynasty of South India
There are two Ganga dynasties in the history of South India. The main branch is known as the Western Gangas of Talakad and the other the Eastern Gangas of Kalinganagara.
The former ruled from the 4th to the eleventh century in the southern Mysore region. History does not know of any connection between these two dynasties.
The Western Gangas ruled over Gangavadi and at the height of their power dominated Mysore. Like most of their medieval South Indian dynasties their origins are lost in proto-historic mist.
