Darshan Gets Darling - Exclusive


Challening Star Darshan has confirmed that he has purchased the remake rights of Telugu Hit Darling starring Prabhas and Kajol Agarwal and directed by Karunakaran. The film is now doing well in A.P. and has also been well received in Karnataka.

Darshan has too many films lined up for a launch. He has recently started the shooting of his film Prince which was launched on June 25. Prince will have Darshan being paired with two heroines Jennifer and Nikitha and it will be directed by Om Prakash Rao who has delivered some bit hits with the challenging star. Darshan will be starting the shooting of his new film Chingari from August 5. Chingari is being directed by dance choreographer Harsha and has Mumbai based Dance choreographer Daisy Shah as the heroine. Now, he is busy completing his work in K.C.N.Chandrashekhar directed Sarathy which is directed by his brother Dinakar.

August 15 will see the launch of Darshan's historical film Sangolli Raayanna directed by Naganna. Then he will be working for director H. Vasu's new film which is being made by a well known Telugu film producer. Darshan will start the shooting of his own home production only after completing these films. His Home production will be the remake of Darling and most probably this film will be directed by M.D. Srid

Challenging star Darshan is not only known for accepting challenges on screen but off screen he meets challenges for the good of his people. There are many examples of Good Samaritan nature of Darshan.
The latest one what we have heard is that he is working for no remuneration for the sake of five important personalities – director MD Sridhar, his brother Dinakar Toogudeepa, music V Harikrishna, lyricist Kaviraj and cameraman Krishna Kumar.

Challenging Star Darshan has given a free call sheet to a consortium of technicians which included his brother Dinakar for a new film to be directed by MD Sridhar is the news in Gandhinagar . This new film is based on Prabhas-Kajal starrer Telugu film Darling which became a big hit last year. Darshan was believed to have offered his call sheet free for his brother Dinakar who was making this film along with technicians MD Sridhar, Music director Hari Krishna, Cameraman Krishna Kumar and also lyricist Kaviraj.

However sources in Gandhinagar say that the news is true in the sense that Darshan is not receiving any signing amount for the advance or will not receive money for working in the film. But it is a fact that the entire satellite rights will be under his hold which means that he will be making money through the satellite sales. Right at this point of time, satellite rights of Darshan's film is getting money in the range of Rs. 1.40 lacs to Rs. 1.50 lacs which may increase or decrease by a small percentage by the time this new film is up for sale of its satellite rights. This is the news that is being heard in the streets of Gandhinagar.

Online review of Telugu original movie - Darling

Darling looks like the work of someone who has studied formula so closely he knows it grain by grain and assumes people will be thoroughly impressed merely because it's been studied. However, substituting colour for substance and star power for script is not formula - it is a convenient mid-summer excuse for a film.

This one is a romantic comedy with all the "elements". The superhumanly strong and agile Prabhas (Prabhas) had the hots for his father's classmate's daughter Nandini (Kajal Aggarwal) when he was a child. Now, he rejects a junior (Shraddha Das) from college who proposes to him, and her goonda father (Mukesh Rishi) is livid. Prabhas pacifies him with an account of his love story - that he had run into Nandini her in Switzerland, that he's waiting for her, and that that's why he cannot marry his daughter.

Now, Prabhas' father (Prabhu) is one among a bunch of thick pals from college (Chandramohan, MS, Dharmavarapu, Ahuti Prasad, etc.) who keep having re-unions every year. The entire cast of the movie then pushes off to Araku, where there is a mega-gathering of families. The rest of the story is about how the couple gets together.

The first half of the movie traces Prabhas and his friends frolicking their way through Swiss locales and Prabhas wooing Nandini, while the second half is a family-buffered re-romance between the two. And somehow, even with so many props, the love story has hardly any intensity.

The whole story is a string of one juvenile incident or conflict after another, and wherever the plot is not predictable it is downright ridiculous. Then, though there's not much by way of brawn and gore, even the little violence present in Darling seems well avoidable and out of place.

But like a gravy that saves the day when hardened nuggets of kofta threaten to bring your meal down to the dumps, what works in Darling's favour are the hero's sidekicks. Led by Srinivas Reddy, this bunch of cronies is armed with some delightful comedy that serves to resuscitate an otherwise lazy script devoid of powerful dialogues. Though the actual streaks of comic brilliance are too few and far between, there's an air of light-heartedness throughout the flick that keeps the mood going.

Prabhas visibly has fun throughout the flick, though his wardrobe designer has a few questions he might have to ask of himself. Kajal puts up an expert show as the chirpy Nandini, especially in the Switzerland half of the movie, and is quite a post-Trisha phenomenon where such roles are concerned.

And like we said, the hero's buddies are a fun pack, delivering some wacky yet clean humour that lets the film sail through. The elder members of the cast have pretty boring roles, but Tulasi, in particular, overacts to the hilt.

Cheerful cinematography makes this a rather pleasant watch, and the songs are pretty engaging as well.

Kaviraj Has Penned The Story

Similar to the ‘Paa’ Hindi cinema (starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Abhisekh Bachchan and Arundhati Nag) well known lyricist Kaviraj is writing a story and it takes a few days time complete it. I am directing the story what may come says Kaviraj.

The story of my film will tell who will be the story and it might be anyone says intelligent Kaviraj. Currently Kaviraj has written all the songs for films like Dhandam Dashaguna, Cool and Happy Kannada films ready to hit the screen.

Meanwhile Kaviraj is the beneficiary of Darshan free call sheet for five. Dinakar Toogudeepa, Krishnakumar, MD Sridhar and V Harikrishna are the other beneficiaries.

Darshan starring this film is titled as ‘Bul Bul Mathadkilva’. This is launched in the banner of Toogudeepa Productions.

Glamorous Kajal Agarwal who is now the busiest heroine in South is all set to act with Darshan in the film Bul Bul, if her date matches with that of Darshan who is presently busy in shooting for song sequence in Bangkok. Bul Bul is the remake of Telugu film Darling which is being produced by Challenging Star's younger brother Dinakar Darshan and group of technicians comprising of director MD Sridhar, Cameraman A.V.Krishna Kumar, music director Hari Krishna and others. Kajal Agarwal had worked with Telugu film industry's handsome actor Prabhas in Darling which was made under the home production banner of the actor.

Darshan is presently working to finish his long pending projects like Harsha directed Chingari for which the final schedule is now progressing in Bangkok and Naganna directed historical venture Sangolli Raayanna for which shooting has to be completed in another two schedule. He is also to take up H.Vasu directed new film to be made with a new producer. Vasu's film will have the Pooja on the Vara Mahalakshmi festival day (August 12) after which five to six days shooting for the film has been planned without Darshan. The regular shooting of the film may start only in the month September 1.
Darshan has also planned to concentrate on the promotions of his forthcoming film Sarathy in July.

Under these circumstances, It has been quite difficult for Darshan to allot the dates for a film that is being produced by his own brother Dinakar in association with a few technicians. Unless the shooting and dubbing work for Kranti Veera Sangolli Raayanna is finished and major portions of the shooting for H.Vasu's film is completed, Darshan does not want to start Bul Bul for which he has to try with new look.

Dinakar confirms that Kajal Agarwal has been approached for the role and she has agreed to work in her first Kannada film with a huge star like Darshan. Even the remuneration aspect has been discussed.

But now the point is Darshan cannot allot dates for the film until his prestigious project Kranti Veera Sangolli Raayanna is finished for which shooting for four schedules has been over. We cannot discuss anything with Kajol unless we have dates of Darshan. That is the only thing that is creating hitch in bringing Kajol to our film' says Dinakar.

Kajol Agarwal is busy both in Tamil and Telugu films and has even worked for her first Bollywood venture with Ajay Devgn in the remake of Singam. Since she is the most sought out artist in Telugu films where she is considered as the luckiest star. In the Telugu film industry her record of working in Mega blockbusters like Magadheera, Brindavanam, Darling and the recently released Mr. Perfect has made her the number one star. She has signed films with top stars like Mahesh Babu in the Businessman to be directed by Puri Jagannath and Pawan Kalyan in the remake of Hindi Hit Dabbang. She has also been chosen for KV Anand's new bilingual venture Mattran starring Suriya.

Still Kajol has shown interest in working in a Kannada film, but now everything depends on Darshan's call sheet for Bul Bul.

Challenging Star offers bomb for Kajal

The stage is getting ready for the saucy seductress Kajal Agarwal to make her debut in Sandalwood. The man behind that is said to be challenging star Darshan and it is heard that he is adamant on having Kajal as his leading lady. As a result, it is heard that he has offered her a whopping Rs 2 crores as remuneration. This is for the film tentatively titled as Bul Bul and this is the remake of the Telugu hit Darling which also had Kajal Agarwal as the leading lady.

Will the Bengaluru Yoga teacher Anushka Shetty who has now rocking in Tamil and Telugu industries act in her first Kannada film this year. Though Anushka is busy in films of both the languages, there are indications that she may sign her first Kannada film Bul Bul which has Darshan as the hero. Dinakar Toogudeepa and many technicians who have worked for Darshana’s films are producing this film to be directed by M.D.Sridhar.
Dinakar confirmed in a conversation with Chitraloka that communication channels with the Bengaluru based actress is intact, but the question is whether Anushka can match the dates of Darshana who has to finish his work in Kranti Veera Sanagolli Raayanna and Viraat.
Dinakar says that Bul Bul will be launched in the month of November and since they are planning to finish off out door shoot in abroad, the heroine’s dates are to be confirmed within a few days.

Sources also said that Shirya and Thrisha are agreeable to work in the project, but the Dinakar team is more interested in either getting Anushka or select another new Kannada girl who suits the role.
Dinakar is of the opinion that new heroines who have worked with Darshan have benefited largely and have become good actresses like Shirin in Dhruva, Praneetha from Pokiri and Deepa Sannidhi from Sarathy. `If we scout for good talent, then we are sure that the actress would give her best and later be an asset to the film industry’ Dinakar is reported to have said M.D.Sridhar.

Anushka Shetty at Last in Kannada..

The actress riding high in the box office and demand from all major language films in India Anushka Shetty has given final nod for challenging star Darshan starring film.

The pride of south Indian hailing from Karnataka, Anushka Shetty had disclosed at the time she had come to watch the Kannada film ‘I am Sorry Mathe Banni Pritsona’ that she is waiting for the right subject to make debut in Kannada as heroine has now materialized.

In the film ‘Bulbul’ (this Kannada word is famous from the days of Nagarahavu in early 70’s – the word Ambarish uses to tease actress Arathi in the runaway hit film debut of Dr Vishnuvardhana in SR Puttanna Kanagal direction).

‘Bulbul’ director MD Sridhar who had given many hits like ‘Friends, Challata, Porkhi’ etc is not ready to confirm that Anushka Shetty is the heroine of his film.

Another source in Gandhinagar explains challenging star Darshan is interested in Anushka Shetty as heroine. The producer has shown interest in giving whatever remuneration asked by Anushka Shetty. Meanwhile Anushka Shetty has been offered the highest remuneration so far for a Kannada film.

‘Bulbul’ is set for launch only after Darshan completes his balance of shoot for ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’.

Darshan magnanimity


Challenging star Darshan has been frequently showing his kindness to people and animal. He has a mini zoo in Mysore and spends over Rs.2.5 lakhs in maintaining different animals at his farm house.

Now the news is that for his birthday on 16th of February is showing another magnanimity. From the profits of his film lauhcing on 16th February from his home banner 'Bul Bul' Darshan is not taking remuneration and the profit earned in the marketing of the film will be distributed to - Dinakar Toogudeepa, Director MD Sridhar, cameraman Krishnakumar, music director V Harikrishna and lyricist Kaviraj - all connected to 'Bul Bul' Kannada cinema.

According to sources Kajal Agarwal has been contacted to play the female lead opposite Darshan. 'Bul Bul' producer is Smt Meena Toogudeepa Srinivas, mother of Darshan and Dinakar.

'Bul Bul' Kannada film held the photo shoot recently and it is a remake of Telugu film 'Darling'.

In the queue for Darshan for release are 'Chingari' and 'Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna' is fast nearing completion. He has 'Viraat' in the direction of H Vasu.

Ambareesh and Darshan Together – Breaking News :-)

Rebel Star Ambareesh will be working again with Challenging star Darshan again in the film ‘Bul Bul, Maathadakkilwa’ which is made under the banner of Toodudeepa productions which is home productions banner of Challenging Star. The two stars are working together after a long gap.

Darshan had earlier acted in the film “Annavru’ with Rebel... Star Ambareesh which was directed by Om Prakash Rao. The film had shades of “Dhalapathy’ directed by Manirathnam which had Mammotty and Rajnikanth in the lead roles. . Darshan had also worked in “Devara Maga’ with Ambareesh which had Century Star Shivaraj Kumar in the lead. Darshan had infact played a negative role in the film. That was many years ago when Darshan was still a struggling actor trying to find his feat in the film industry as an actor.

Bul Bul will be launched on February 16, the birthday of Darshan. The film is being is produced by Dinakar Toogudeepa, Director M.D.Sridhar, Music director Hari Krishna, Cameraman Krishna Kumar, Lyricist Kaviraj. Ms. Meena Toogudeepa, mother of Darshan is presenting the film. The film is a remake of Telugu Hit “Darling’ which had Prabhas and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles. Karunakar was the director of this film which became a big blockbuster film. The actress playing the heroine’s role has not been finalised yet. Though contacts have been established with Anushka and Kajal Agarwal, there has been lot of date problems to match the requirement of the film.

According to Sridhar a local girl from the state who is well conversant in Kannada may be selected. Incidentally, Rebel Star Ambareesh will be playing the role of Darshan’s father in the film. In the original film Sivaji Prabhu had played this role.

Speaking to Chitraloka portal, M.D.Sridhar said that though it is a fact that Rebel Star Ambareesh has been contacted for the role, he can only reveal the news of his inclusion in “Bul Bul’ at a right time. “You can say that Ambareesh sir is acting in the film to an extent of 90 percent. It is better if Dinakar or Darshan sir confirms the news’ said Sridhar.

Crazy Star and Kicha to Launch Bul Bul



Crazy Star Ravichandran will be holding the clap and Kicha Sudeepa will be doing the camera on work for the launch of Challenging Star Darshan’s birthday launch “Bul Bul’ at Kanteerava Studios. The film will be presented by Ms. Meena Toogudeepa, mother of Darshan while the film is directed by M.D.Sridhar who had earlier directed the Challenging Star in the film “Porki’.

The film will be mounting the sets on February 16, birthday of Challenging Star Darshan. The heroine of the film has not been finalised yet. The film is a remake of Telugu Hit “Darling” starring Prabhas and Kajal Agarwal.

Meanwhile, Kaviraj who is working on the script and also one of the partner-producers told Chitraloka Mega Portal said that the film will get a new look as the entire first half of the film has now been changed. Even the second half has been changed considerably to give the film a new look.

Krishna Kumar the cinemetographer and Hari Krishna the music director of the film are also the producers of the film along with Dinakar Toogudeepa, the direction of Super Hit film “Sarathee’.
